Multiple South African Champion Brian Capper pulled out all the stops this weekend taking first place at Sunday’s Final of the Insurance Zone Super Enduro. The event took place at The Rand Show held at NASREC where racing took place over two days.
The awesome venue and great crowd made for an electric atmosphere the JHB Expo Centre. Brian Capper was up against some fierce competition. With big names like Blake Gutzeit, Travis Teasdale, Kenny Gilbert and a number of feisty up and coming young riders in the mix, the field was stacked!
After some good qualifying racing on Saturday, Capper entered the final as a favourite to win. Despite a slow start, Capper managed to make his way through the field and come back from two crashes to finish in 4th place. A disappointing result for Redbull’s champ but fortunately Sunday would provide a whole new day of racing.
Sunday brought another set of qualifiers and another chance to race a Super Enduro Final. Brian Capper was on form in the qualifiers, winning his 1st and 2nd heat race. Going into the final on his YZ 250 FX, Capper led the field in the first two laps. He was then over taken by Travis Teasedale who took the lead with Capper in hot pursuit. However, Teasdale’s hot pace in the early stages caught him out as Capper started putting in a surge and Teasdale went down. This allowed Capper to take the lead and power through to victory.
Brian Capper took first place followed by Kenny Gilbert in second place and Travis Teasedale in third. This was a spectacular victory for Capper and a great day for his sponsors too. We look forward to seeing what Capper fires up next…
